Top 10 Recs

Hello everyone! This is my prompt at Tree of Reverie's super exciting challenge on what would be your Top 10 Recommendations if you started up a library or bookstore of your own.

My picks were:

  1. The Perks Of Being a Wallflower - Stephen Chbosky
  2. Mysterious Skin - Scott Heim
  3. The Alchemist - Paulo Coelho
  4. We Were Liars - E.Lockhart.
  5. Matilda - Roald Dahl
  6. And Then There Were None - Agatha Christie
  7. One Hunder Years Of Soliture - Gabriel Garcia Marquez
  8. The Reader - Bernhard Schlink
  9. Carrie - Stephen King
  10. 1984 - George Orwell

And now to complete the final prompts:

Why did you choose these books? What would be close favourites for book recommendations that didn’t make it onto your list? Is there anything else that you’d like to mention about the books you’ve chosen to include on this list?

  1. It is my absolute favourite book, and it is an honest story about a kid who grows up and overcomes some of his fear, but remais pretty much self aware of how feeling okay isn't eternal. Suitable for young adult readers and even adults, too. It deels with the teenage years in a good way.
  2. Mysterious Skin is a raw story. It is a hard one to swallow so proceed with care. It is about two young boys who have had something in common happen to them in the past. One of them can't remember despite all effort, the other one can't forget.
  3. It is both only a trip from Spain to Egypt but also a relevant journey to the world of love, religion and personal decisions. It is pretty much a self help book, but told in a beautiful fictional matter, one that will surely make you think and ponder on your major life decisions.
  4. This book will wreck your brain it its 200 pages.
  5. My middle grade pick for this list. Roald Dahl is a wonderful writer who manages to get children into reading and all its stories are full of creativity and cuteness, in general. It's the sort of children's book that an adult can also enjoy.
  6. Who can talk mystery without talking Agatha Christie? Christie is not only the best in the genre but also the one who has published the most books. However, And Then There Were None has always standed out by its originality and sense. Who comes up with these stories?! 10 people are stranded in an abandoned island and start dying one by one, following the sayings of the song Ten Little Niggers.
  7. Marquez got a Nobel Prize for this one. 100 Years of Solitude counts the story of the becoming of the town Macondo, by the story of the family. It is a rich novel not only in its writing but by its study of humanity, life and death.
  8. A book that throughly talks about the events of the Holocaust, but that's not what the book it about. The Reader is about a woman who is in love with a young boy and they get related. In their relationship, he reads to her passionately. Because she can't. How will this affect her?
  9. The king of horror!
  10. A haunting dystopian novel which never gets old, an awfully relevant one.
